18/03/2021

Osmo hardwax oil is a hard wearing, clear finish for timber and cork flooring. It can also be used as an interior timber furniture and exposed beams coating. It gives the timber the perfect coverage an protection without crating a film on the surface. It is the natural alternative to polyurethane. Osmo Polyx Oil is available in 4 sheen levels (Gloss, Satin, Semi-Matt and Matt), or in Polyx Raw - with white pigment, to keep the natural colour of the wood.

Why Is Osmo Hardwax Oil So Good?

Osmo clear wood finish which uniquely combines the advantages of natural oils and waxes in one single product, it is dirt resistant, water-repellent, abrasion-proof and gives the timber a smooth surface. In comparison to other coating systems, a harmonic optic will be achieved due to vegetable contents. It has micro-porous structure, therefore, it does not crack, peel or flake. Highly resistant against wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water - does not create water spots. It is safe for humans, animals and plants and very safe and suitable for children’s toys.

How Do I Apply Osmo Hardwax Oil?

Wood surface must be clean and dry. Osmo Polyx Oil is ready-to-use, please do not thin and stir well before application. Any old floor coverings must be removed - sanded and carefully cleaned with a vacuum cleaner before the application of the oil. Use Osmo Wood Filler for small cracks, larger gaps or holes. Apply first coat thinly, thoroughly and evenly along wood grain (ideally, using the Osmo Natural Bristle Brush, Osmo Floor Brush or Osmo Roller) and spread well. Remove surplus, allow for good ventilation whilst drying for (generally 8-10 hours, allow up to 20 hours drying time in humid conditions). When the finish is dry apply the second coat also thinly and quickly.

How Do I Revive My Osmo Coated Floors Or Furniture?

For any renovation purposes of already oiled surfaces with any Osmo product, you can apply one coat only to a clean surface. No need for sanding or removing previous coats.

How Do I Care For Osmo Coated Floors Or Furniture?

Wooden surfaces that are treated with Osmo Polyx Oil are easy to maintain. Any dirt can be removed with a broom or a vacuum cleaner. For regular maintenance of wooden floors, please mix the Osmo Wash and Care with water and clean the area with a moist (not wet!) mop.
